SymHelp utilizes .NET and runs in one of three modes depending on the version of .NET present:

• Standard mode: requires .NET 3.0 or greater
• Reduced mode: requires .NET 2.0. Threat analysis scans are not available in this mode
• Mono mode: if no .NET is present. Equivalent to reduced mode, the lack of .NET on a system will cause SymHelp to request a download of a different .exe that contains the Mono library which provides .NET capabilities.
